# Investor profile (Brazil)

> The suitability questionnaire users of a Brazilian partner answer inside the widget before operating, required by Resolução BCB nº 520/2025.

**Brazilian partners only.** Brazilian regulation (Resolução BCB nº 520/2025) requires Ripio to know the risk profile of every customer operating through a Brazilian partner. What decides it is your account's country, not the user's: a Brazilian national using an Argentine partner's widget never sees it. In the widget this is a short questionnaire the user answers once a year, and **it happens entirely on Ripio's side**: there is no URL parameter, setting or event for you to handle. Widgets for Argentina, Colombia and Mexico never show it.

### When the user sees it

After [signing in](/ramps-api/widget/flows/identity-and-terms) and [verifying their identity](/ramps-api/widget/flows/kyc), and **before the first purchase or sale**. Every time a user is about to operate, the widget checks their profile:

| Situation | What the user sees | Can they skip it? |
| - | - | :-: |
| Valid profile | Nothing; they go straight to operate | — |
| Never answered, before October 30, 2026 | An invitation to answer, with the date it becomes mandatory | ✅ |
| Never answered, from October 30, 2026 | The questionnaire, before they can operate | ❌ |
| Profile expires within 30 days | An invitation to renew, with the expiry date | ✅ |
| Profile expired | "Your investor profile expired" and the questionnaire | ❌ |

A profile is valid for **one year**. Answering again — to renew, or after it expired — starts a new year.

### What the user goes through

<Steps>
  <Step title="An introduction">
    Explains that Brazilian regulation requires Ripio to know their risk profile before they operate with virtual assets, and — when it applies — until when they can postpone it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Five questions, one per screen">
    About their experience with virtual assets, investment goals and horizon, how they would react to a drop, and how much of their savings they plan to invest. One answer per question, with a step counter and the option to go back.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Their result">
    The user sees their profile — **Conservative**, **Moderate** or **Aggressive** (*Conservador*, *Moderado*, *Arrojado*) — with a short description, and continues to the operation they were starting.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The questionnaire follows the widget's language. The profile does not restrict which operations the user can make; it only has to be on record and valid.

### If the profile expires mid-way

A user who opened the widget with a valid profile may see it expire before they confirm. In that case the operation is not created: the widget asks them to complete the questionnaire, and after they answer it **retries the operation on its own**, with nothing to start over.

### What your backend does

Nothing. There is no event for the investor profile, and no call for you to make.

If you also integrate the API, [Investor Profile (Brazil)](/ramps-api/investor-profile/introduction) describes the same rules from that side.

<Note>
  The investor profile is enabled by Ripio per account, and your widget and API integrations use different accounts. If you operate in Brazil through both, make sure it is enabled for both.
